Past issues of the Echo (1970 to present) are available below, although some may be incomplete (i.e. some text or pages may be missing or illegible). Several are revised copies (marked with *) uploaded to the web site after a preliminary copy was initially available. Page Number Confusion: Between 2005v49-5 and 2010v54-1, electronic files on web site have split 9 Echo issues into 2 or 3 separate electronic files (due to excessive file size). Be aware that the electronic file page numbers for each file start at 1 and thus (for files 2 and 3) are different than the page number shown at the bottom of the pages. (Exception: For v52-1 file 3, page numbers indicated at bottom of pages {of electronic copy} have been change to match the electronic file page numbers and thus are different than the page numbers shown on the bottom of the pages in the printed copies of the Echo.) Adding to the confusion, electronic files for file 3 of issues v51-4, v52-1, and v52-2 repeat Echo page 1 at the beginning of file 3, offsetting the page numbering by one.

* (below) 2006v50-3-Winter probably should be 2006v50-3-Fall or 2007v51-1-Winter.

* 2006v50-3-Winter probably should be 2006v50-3-Fall or 2007v51-1-Winter. **2003v47-4: several photo captions incorrect.
***Correction: photo caption on v45-4p18&19 are reversed: p18 is No. Pal; p19 is Sill.   ^^v45-6p1 is Williamson, not Ritter. ^See errata.

* 1989v33-6 includes Tribute Part 1; 1992 v36-2 includes Tribute Part 2. **v40-5p1 is Thunderbolt, not N Pal;
^v39-6p38 & 47 & v37-1p5 - see errata.

     Errata: v30-7p9 & v20-8p7: First SPS Schedule of trips on these pages missed mentioning second SPS outing to Maggie Mtn & (co-sponsored with DPS) Mt Inyo [corrected v49-5p57].

Linkage Error: Before 10/28/23, above link to 1971v15-3 above took you to 1973v17-3. This has been corrected 10/28/23.
* Jan 1969 v13-1 cover is marked Vol. 12 No. 12.   
**May-Jun 1967 v11-2 cover marked Vol. 10 No. 2.
Blank cells above & below indicate issue (may not exist) or paper copy has not been located/scanned.

Past Echo format  Changes

Echo 1968v12-8 may have been first issue with photo of mountains on cover.
Echo 1981v25-6 was printed on blue paper.
Echo 1995v39-6 was first issue printed on 11x17 paper (one issue only).
Echo 1996v40-6 and later issues were printed on 11x17 paper.
Echo 2006v50-2 &-3 digital copies (on web site) are 11x17.
Echo 2006v50-3 is marked as Winter 2006.
           It should probably have been marked Fall 2006 or Winter 2007.
Echo 2008v52-3 was last paper copy distributed to all members.
Echo copies before 2009 are scanned PDF format.
Echo copies since 2009 are digital format.

About the Echo: The Sierra Echo is the official newsletter of the Sierra Peaks Section and is issued four times a year (every calender quarter). It contains: 

• Editorial comment from the Management Committee
• Listings of upcoming trips
• News on training and technical check-offs
• New Emblem holders
• Letters from our readers
• Book reviews
• Committee reports
• Reports on SPS trips and some private trips
• Climbing insurance updates
• Restaurant reviews
• Other articles of interest to our membership

Subscribe - You need not be an SPS or a Sierra Club member to subscribe to the Sierra Echo. Just send your name and address and $10.00 to the Section Treasurer. New subscriptions or applications received after October 1st are credited for the subsequent year. Most members and subscribers now receive the Sierra Echo as the full color electronic edition. You are also welcome to support the Section with a Sustaining Subscription for $25.00 per year. 

Submit Material - Please send materials for publication in The Sierra Echo to the Echo Editor. Please contact the Editor for information about the appropriate electronic format in which to submit written material and images for publication. 

Change Address - Please send address changes to the Section Secretary. To those subscribers who have specified that they do not wish to receive the the Sierra Echo in electronic format, it is mailed via 3rd class mail and will not be forwarded by the post office. (Sustaining hard copy subscribers receive it via first class postage.)
