By Tom Schuster, Director, Sierra Club Pennsylvania Chapter
I am very pleased to introduce our new Clean Energy Program Advocate, Nate Reagle! Nate was most recently an Energy Program Specialist at the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, where he designed finance programs to deploy clean energy and efficiency projects. This included designing and writing the critical state grant proposal for $250 million in federal money to support the Solar for All program, which aims to install solar on thousands of low-income residences.
Prior to working at the DEP, he spent ten years as a Wildlife and Fisheries Ecologist at the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. Nate is a passionate advocate for insect biodiversity and conservation. He has developed pollinator conservation plans and insect conservation practices for resource managers as well as co-authored the “Introduction to Insects” booklet published by Penn State Extension. He is also a Certified Pollinator Steward (Pollinator Partnership) and a Certified Pollinator Champion (Michigan State University). He has also served as a Staff Sergeant in the US Army Reserve and a Technical Sergeant in the Air National Guard.
Nate is stepping into his new role, which has been vacant since I became Chapter Director, on October 2. In this role, he will be responsible for planning, coordinating and executing much of our policy work to transition Pennsylvania’s electricity, transportation, and building sectors to clean energy. He will be working closely with Jen Quinn on energy-related legislation, and representing the Chapter in several important climate-focused coalitions. He’ll be based in Harrisburg and can be reached at nathan.reagle@sierraclub.org. Please give him a warm welcome!
