The Sierra Club Pennsylvania Chapter has eight (8) conservation teams that focus on a wide array of state-level environmental issues from clean and dirty energy to water quality and public lands and beyond. These teams are composed of volunteers from across the state.
Learn about our conservation teams and how you can get involved! Click on the link for each team to find out about meetings, news updates, projects, and contact info.
New for 2024, there will be quarterly meetings that bring together members of all Conservation Teams into 2 tracks: Climate & Energy (hosted by PA Chapter Clean Energy Program Advocate Nate Reagle) and Quality of Life (hosted by PA Deputy Director Sarah Corcoran).
Fall 2024 Conservation Team Webinar Series
A great 7-part webinar series with topics presented by our team members and special guests. Recording and presentation links.
You can register for the Conservation Team meetings (all video conferences) by clicking on the specific event in the calendar below. Look for the quarterly Climate & Energy and Quality of Life meetings in March, June, September and December, which are "all-hands" meetings for the two groups of teams: energy related, and quality of life related.

PA Chapter Conservation Grants 2024
The PA Chapter ExCom has approved a budget of about $40,000 for 2024 for conservation projects. Conservation projects are broadly defined as those that advance the mission of the Sierra Club (but do not involve political or legislative activities). We offer these large and small grants in three separate categories.:
- Chapter Conservation Teams (Clean/Dirty Energy, Air/Water Quality, Zero Waste, Food & Ag, Public Lands, Transportation)
- SC/PA Groups
- Non-Sierra Club entities (must be 501(c)(3) nonprofit)
Chapter Conservation Teams will get the first opportunity to be considered There is no deadline (except for the end of the year), but it is first-come-first-serve. Groups are also invited to submit.
If you have an idea or concept, please discuss it with your team/group leaders and get the application process started. It's a very simple process. Go to this application form.
You should aware that there is a separate concurrent grant program, called Huplits grants, administered by the Allegheny Group. See the description of this grant program. You are welcome to apply for a Huplits grant as well.
Recent recipients used this funding for PFAS testing in groundwater and for farm stand produce, environmental awareness yard signs, water quality monitoring, and installation of PM2.5 air monitors.
We encourage conservation projects to be innovative, reach out to our conservation community, and positively impact our environment. Matching (or partial) funding from a sponsoring group is encouraged, but not required. Please email with any questions.
Here is a link to the grant application form. Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks for all that you do to protect our environment.
