Carbon Farm in Your Own Backyard
- Compost yard and food waste; encourage others to do the same
- Start carbon farming in your own backyard (see our Dirty Dozen tips)
Vote with Your Pocketbook: What You Buy Helps or Hurts Our Environment
- Buy from local farmers’ markets
- Buy organic produce (it may not be grown using regenerative methods, but it’s not destructive)
- Ask for and buy produce from farmers who use regenerative agricultural methods
- Eat less beef and buy grass-fed beef
- Eat healthier; avoid processed foods and fast-food restaurants
- Avoid products containing palm oil
- Buy FSC certified wood and paper products
- Buy recycled or reclaimed wood and paper products
Spread the Word and Network
- Write letters to editors
- Contact your local leaders and representatives
- Incorporate the importance of soil health and its role in carbon sequestration into your advocacy efforts
- Talk to your neighbors
