Sierra Pathfinders (formerly Singleaires) is an Activity Section of the Loma Prieta Chapter of the Sierra Club with 250+ active adult members who embrace the Sierra Club motto (explore, enjoy, and protect the planet) through a variety of hikes, events and outings. We usually have three hikes on Sundays: an "easy" Mini hike (a few miles and relatively flat), a 1A (less than 6 miles), and a 2B or 3C that is more difficult. These are led by any of our fully-trained leaders – currently we have 40 of them, 5 of whom are certified for wilderness events.
Our weekly Sunday hikes usually end before 4 pm, in order to give participants time to pick up their food for the weekly potluck. These gastronomic events are held in gracious members’ homes, usually on the Peninsula but occasionally in Half Moon Bay or the East Bay. Potlucks are open to members of Sierra Pathfinders and for guests of members who go on one of that day's hikes, and who are acceptable to the host as a guest. Because potlucks are held in private homes all attendance is at the discretion of the host.
We organize other activities such as mule trips, backpacking, and camping in the Sierra Nevada. There are also a number of other member-only social events during the year.
In addtion to these Sierra Pathfinders pages, we have a Meetup group that also lists our hikes and provides group members with the ability to discuss hikes, carpooling arrangements etc. You don't have to be a Pathfinders member to join the Meetup group.
