On November 30th, your Loma Prieta Chapter in collaboration with residents and environmental organizations Green Foothills and Santa Clara Valley Audubon Society, spoke in opposition to the Heritage Oaks Memorial Park Project which is proposed for Coyote Valley. This project could fragment wildlife habitat and impede the vulnerable wildlife corridor between the Santa Cruz Mountains and the Diablo Range.
San Jose Spotlight reported on this project and our opposition. “A lot of the land around this project is now protected for creating a safe passage for wildlife,” Leeds [of the Sierra Club Loma Prieta Chapter] said. “This project could impede those efforts and potentially undo the significant effort and investment by San Jose and the Open Space Authority to preserve Coyote Valley as a wildlife linkage.”
We are tracking the process of this project and will notify our members and supporters when there are more opportunities to speak. Read the full article by San Jose Spotlight.
