Washington, DC-- Today, despite the House and Senate passage of a resolution to overturn Donald Trump’s national emergency declaration, the President vetoed the bill. The move comes one day after the Senate passed the resolution and after several lawsuits, including the Sierra Club’s, challenged the constitutionality of the declaration. Several members of the Republican party in the House and Senate made clear their disagreement with Trump’s decision.
Today, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) released the final environmental impact statement (EIS) for the proposed Texas LNG fracked gas export terminal. Texas LNG is one of three fracked gas export terminals proposed for the Rio Grande Valley, the cumulative impacts of which could be devastating for local communities and industries like eco-tourism and shrimping that rely on a pristine coastline.

Las Vegas, NV-- Today, the US Forest Service issued their final Environmental Assessment on Nevada’s Ruby Mountains-- denying the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) request to offer parcels for leasing in the landscape. The decision comes after after an outpour of public opposition and restricts BLM from offering the sale of parcels in the Ruby Mountains for oil and gas development.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Today, the Senate voted 53-46 along party lines to confirm Neomi Rao to the D.C. Circuit Court. Rao has been widely-criticized by for her extreme and dangerous views on climate, sexual assault, LGBTQ rights, and civil rights. Rao is Trump’s 36th judge confirmed to appeals courts.
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Today, the House Natural Resources Committee took the first steps to hold the Trump administration accountable for its illegal actions to shrink two national monuments and to open up millions of new acres of America’s public lands to dirty fuel development. The Committee heard testimony from Tribal leaders, scientists, conservationists, representatives of outdoor businesses and land management experts on the negative cultural, environmental, economic, paleontological, and archeological consequences of monument reduction.
