This morning, Sierra Club released a report detailing how the two gas-fired power plants that Xcel Energy operates in Denver – Arapahoe and Cherokee – contribute to environmental injustice in the metro region. Both plants are located in low-income communities of color with higher-than-average health burdens, and they’re adding to the already disproportionately high amount of other industrial sources of pollution in those communities.

During the tour, Gulf communities threatened by oil and gas exports, joined by environmental advocates, are calling on the EPA to protect frontline communities by stepping in and doing everything in its power to stop the expansion of fossil fuel exports.

The phased approach to modifying the NEPA regulations would start with three specific changes in Phase 1 to restore certain regulatory provisions from the original 1978 regulations.

Washington, D.C. - Today the Energy and Commerce Committee of the U.S House of Representatives began its mark-up of budget reconciliation language, which includes a Clean Electricity Performance Program (CEPP), a fee on methane polluters, funding for electric vehicles, environmental justice block grants, building electrification and energy efficiency. The committee is expected to send the bill to the full House in the coming days.

St. Louis, MO -- A broad coalition of organizations are uniting to oppose Ameren Missouri’s proposed $299 million rate increase for its customers, thousands of whom continue to struggle during the COVID-19 pandemic as the monopoly electric utility’s stock price and shareholder dividends soar. Ameren Missouri’s request for a rate increase with the Missouri Public Service Commission (PSC), if approved, would add $12 per month for the average residential electric customer and $4 per month for the average gas customer.
