WILMINGTON, DE – Today, Governor Carney announced that Delaware will join the growing list of states that are a part of the Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) program, which will direct manufacturers to increasingly sell electric vehicles in the state.
Other ZEV states include California, Colorado, Connecticut, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York, New Jersey, Nevada, Oregon, Rhode Island, Washington, Vermont, and Virginia.
Cars and trucks on Delaware roads are the largest source of climate-disrupting emissions in the state and a significant source of toxic air pollution.
In response, Delaware Sierra Club Chapter Director Sherri Evans-Stanton released the following statement:
“Delaware is joining a wave of states across the nation moving forward with programs that will increase access to cleaner vehicles. We applaud the Carney administration for advancing climate action, clean air and consumer choice by committing our state to the growing zero emission vehicle program. These standards are critical to meeting Delaware’s climate goals and to protect residents from pollution.”
