Washington, DC -- The Sierra Club is calling for the resignation of US Postmaster General Louis DeJoy following his actions to disrupt mail service and undermine the United States Postal Service. DeJoy is set to testify on his recent changes to USPS in front of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee tomorrow and the House Oversight Committee next week.

In response, Sierra Club Sierra Club Executive Director Michael Brune released the following statement:

“The Trump Administration continues to work around the clock to endanger our clean air, clean water, and public health, and now, they’re attempting to further dismantle our democracy by attacking a government agency that binds families, friends, and communities together. While the corporate executives and millionaires and billionaires that fill this administration may not be able to comprehend these actions, the disgraceful attempt to undermine the USPS harms communities around our country. Louis DeJoy is merely the latest crony attempting to do Donald Trump’s dangerous and disgraceful bidding, and it’s time he joins the ranks of Scott Pruitt and Ryan Zinke and is removed from office.”
