2019 Oregon Chapter Executive Committee Election is coming right up!
The Oregon Chapter is excited to announce the upcoming annual Executive Committee election! The Executive Committee (or ExCom) is the volunteer Board of Directors for the Oregon Chapter. If you are a member of the Oregon Chapter, you have a right to seek candidacy and/or cast your vote in this election, which is one of the most important privileges and responsibilities of your membership.
The ExCom is comprised of nine at-large members and three to four group or network representatives. Serving on the ExCom is a commitment to help lead the Chapter through a two-year term. The ExCom oversees the Chapter’s budget; assists in fundraising; manages Chapter governance, volunteers, and staff; sets organizational vision, goals, and priorities; and makes important decisions relating to the Chapter’s environmental, political, and legislative positions.
Each ExCom member also serves on at least one organizational committee, which deal with the above-described duties in greater depth. The ExCom meets in varying locations in Oregon approximately 5 times a year. Each ExCom member is expected to contribute to Chapter fundraising. Candidates should be prepared to devote on average ten hours a month to board work.
Ballots will be mailed or emailed to all active Oregon Chapter members in mid-November and will need to be received postmarked no later than December 20, 2019. If you’re interested in casting your vote electronically, please ensure your email is on file with the Chapter.
If you’re interested in being considered for candidacy in this year’s Chapter election, please contact Ryan Talbott at rdtalbott@gmail.com for a candidate application. To be considered for this year’s candidate slate, completed applications must be received by October 18, 2019.
