BOSTON, MA -- The announcement of over $1 billion in bonds supporting new local climate resilience and mitigation initiatives, including support for microgrids, municipal sustainability coordinators, and electric vehicles is great news for Massachusetts. There are many solutions available to us today to begin truly addressing the climate crisis, and these coming GreenWorks initiatives are a significant step in the right direction.
Massachusetts Sierra Club Chapter Director Deb Pasternak issued the following statement:
“It’s heartening to see this climate-friendly initiative by Speaker DeLeo, because it is essential our elected leaders play an active role in aggressively addressing the climate crisis. Upgrading our state’s energy infrastructure to support municipal microgrids is just one example of a crucial advancement toward a resilient, renewable energy economy. People deserve the ability to choose healthy, clean energy for their communities. We’re happy to see this announcement and look forward to engaging our members and supporters across the state to make the most of these exciting investment support opportunities.”
