Summer intern Emma sent us this book recommendation: I'm in this class called Literature and the Environment this term and we are reading this really awesome book called Desert Solitare by Edward Abbey. It's a really excellent read about Abbey's experiences working as a park ranger in Arches National Monument in Utah. I think he presents a really thought provoking discussion on our relationship with the "wilderness" and how we interact with it. He's really funny and sarcastic and some of the humor is kind of dark. He also includes a bunch of really great stories about various people he's met and some of the legends of the parks. I think its a great book to recommend to any members if they are interested too, so I thought I would share.
