The Lands Wildlife Habitat Team, the Chicago Group's conservation advocacy team, works passionately on terrestrial issues with a focus on wildlife and habitat conservation. We understand the importance of biodiversity and strive to protect, promote, and educate for the future of our natural world. Several of our current campaigns include:
Pollinators: The decline in pollinators such as bees and butterflies has been a major concern throughout Illinois. We are working with state and local legislators on pollinator-friendly legislation when needed. In addition to this, we will be collaborating with other groups throughout Illinois to give out pollinator-friendly seed to plant in pots and gardens.
Nature and wildlife education, including:
- Montrose Beach nature tours and beach cleanups twice a year in April and September
- Educational events for state and federal Endangered Species Act protection
- Lobbying local, state and federal regulators and legislators on wildlife, land and habitat-oriented issues
- Beginners' birdwatching and nature tours at locations in Chicago and nearby natural areas
Please join other wildlife and habitat enthusiasts to help protect wildlife and habitat in Chicago and throughout the state. For more information, please contact Christine Williamson at birdchris@aol.com or join one of our nature education tours (see the Chicago Group calendar on our homepage for dates).
