The Chicago Water Team advocates for the health and enjoyment of area waterways and equitable access to safe drinking water.
Our activities include:
-
Advocacy to protect the Great Lakes and Chicago Area Waterways from invasive species, nutrient pollution and the harm caused by combined sewer overflows, as well as supporting the initiatives that safeguard our drinking water sources and recreational opportunities.
-
Holding educational events including expert-led discussions, experiences for members, volunteers and youth, such as a clean water jobs fair and tours of water infrastructure facilities.
-
A water sampling program where volunteers conduct tests along the Chicago, Des Plaines and Calumet rivers. Visit the Chicago River Checkup site to access sampling results and additional information on the program.
-
Cleanup events at Montrose Beach and along the Chicago River.
