The Water and Natural Spaces Committee at the Washington DC Chapter of the Sierra Club is dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of our local ecosystems. The Committee is dedicated to ensuring that the District enjoys clean, accessible, and thriving natural areas. This involves monitoring and advocating for policies that impact the full spectrum of our local environment. We advocate for fishable and swimmable waterways, including the Potomac and Anacostia Rivers, Rock Creek, and District's streams. The Committee also advocates for clean and affordable drinking water, and monitors laws and policies affecting both surface and drinking waters.
In pursuit of these goals the committee meets the third Wednesday of every other month. See the chapter calendar for specific meeting dates and locations.
