In Fond Memory of Karen Cordry
With great sadness, we announce that our longtime Treasurer, colleague, and friend, Karen Cordry, passed away suddenly in November 2023.
A longtime leader in the DC Group of the Maryland Chapter, Karen was one of the first leaders of the DC Chapter and the first treasurer when it split off from the Maryland Chapter and officially became the District of Columbia Chapter more than 30 years ago. She proudly referred to herself as our Chapter's “Treasurer for Life.’
Karen will remain forever a force of nature and a great friend and champion of the DC Chapter. She was always the first to volunteer, to step in where help was needed, and a constant source of wisdom, sage advice, joy, and laughter. We sorely miss her dry humor and pragmatism, and forever cherish her friendship.
Karen's engagement and leadership also extended far beyond the DC Chapter -- she was a leader in her neighborhood, her professional field, and so much more, and her work and contributions to her community will have a lasting impact.
