Community Advocates Program
We have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to drive transformational change.
Get InvolvedAbout The Program
After years of advocacy, our grassroot movement helped pass two historic bills—the Inflation Reduction Act and the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act—to advance climate action and clean energy, environmental justice, and infrastructure. Billions of federal dollars are available for projects that would create 9 million good jobs and reduce carbon emissions 40% below 2005 levels by 2030. Now it's time for our state governments, cities and towns, and communities to take advantage of these investments.
The Sierra Club is launching a Community Advocates program to build teams of volunteers to harness federal funding at the state and local level, especially in communities most impacted by climate and environmental injustice. Participants will learn how to support implementation, whether it’s working alongside local businesses and schools to apply for grants, spreading awareness about rebates, or holding elected officials accountable. They’ll organize with others in their communities and will be supported with training, toolkits, coaching and more.
Learn More About Inflation Reduction Act
The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 includes more than 100 programs that will invest about $370 billion in climate action, clean energy jobs, and environmental justice. Collectively, these unprecedented investments will put us on a path to cutting climate pollution by 40% by 2030 while creating over 9 million family-sustaining jobs over the next decade and advancing racial, economic, and environmental justice.
