Hikes with Another Summit - Community Members Welcome!

For anyone interested in becoming certified to lead Sierra Club hikes, please contact Aaron Leonard at aaronleonard@guardianrevival.org.

Community members are welcome to participate in hikes organized by Another Summit, the Sierra Club Military Outdoors partner in our area. The Outings Leaders at Another Summit are trained to Sierra Club standards. Although Another Summit primarily focuses on military veterans and first responders, they are open to all community members joining them.

June 23 Tremper Mountain Fire Tower

Join our outdoor leader, Bill and Todd, for one of the toughest towers in the Catskills Fire Tower Series! In the fourth installment of our Catskills Fire Tower Series, we'll be tackling the Tremper Mountain Fire Tower. After the long climb is complete you'll be rewarded with an awe inspiring 360 degree view of the Catskills. DIFFICULTY: 🟥 Red (strenuous)

June 28 Sunrise Scramble

You can join our outdoor leaders, Chuck and Jesse, every Friday at 6 AM for a fast-paced hike to the casino ruins on Mount Beacon! This will be a challenging but rewarding early-morning hike to get your day started off right (and with the time to shower before work). DIFFICULTY: ⬛ Black (very strenuous)

June 28 Sunset Scramble

You can join our outdoor leaders, Elena and Aaron, every Friday at 6 PM for a fast-paced hike to the flagpole on Breakneck Ridge! This will be a challenging but rewarding evening hike to finish off your work-week in high spirits (and get in that cardio!) DIFFICULTY: ⬛ Black (very strenuous)

June 29 Transit to Trails | Sugarloaf

Join our outdoor leaders on a 5.4 mile out-and-back hike to Sugarloaf Hill, Garrison NY. This hike features excellent river level views of West Point as well as stunning views of the Hudson Valley from the top of Sugarloaf Hill. The Summit is also a great spot to watch for hawks and native cacti that are often in bloom at this time of year. DIFFICULTY: 🟨 Yellow (moderately strenuous)

New York New Jersey Trail Conference Outings

The Sierra Club Lower Hudson Group is a member of the New York New Jersey Trail Conference, which conducts group hikes and provides a wealth of information enabling you to access many trails on your own. You can also volunteer as an educational trail steward or a part of a trail-maintenance crew once the NYNJTC resumes their programs.
