We're facing a make-or-break moment to pass historic climate legislation.
The Build Back Better Act is the cornerstone of President Biden's agenda. Every time I read what's in it, I get goosebumps:
- Creating a fast track toward 100% clean energy that will slash air and climate pollution.
- Bold investments in public transit and union-built electric vehicles.
- Replacing lead pipes in thousands of communities across the country.
- Creating millions of good jobs through an equitable Civilian Climate Corps.
- Protecting the Arctic Refuge from oil drilling.
- Expanding Medicare and the social safety net ... and so much more!
The Build Back Better Act is the most ambitious climate legislation in the history of our country. And our window of opportunity to pass it is right now.
But it's hitting some hurdles. The fossil fuel industry is pushing back hard, trying to maintain the disastrous status quo. Corporations like ExxonMobil are going all out, using their influence to pressure members of Congress on both sides of the aisle, while moderate Democrats like Senators Sinema and Manchin try to cut investments in clean energy, clean transportation, and clean water. To win historic investments in climate, racial, and economic justice, we have to push just as hard. This is our moment to get the fully funded Build Back Better Act across the finish line. Together, we can drive thousands of calls into Congress, showing the power of our movement, not polluters. Our members of Congress need to hear from us! Are you in?

Even if you think your representative is supportive, or if you think they don't want to hear from you, it's still important to call, exercise our democracy, and build pressure to pass the full Build Back Better Act. Every vote counts. Every call matters.
For months, members of Congress have linked the Build Back Better Act with the smaller bipartisan infrastructure bill, understanding that the two bills must move together in order to both pass.
But here's the challenge:A dozen or so members of Congress are now trying to decouple the two bills—pushing through the infrastructure bill that ignores clean energy while leaving the bold climate investments in the Build Back Better Act vulnerable to cuts or failure. They’re trying to rush a vote on the smaller bill next week!
We have no more time to lose. Congress must deliver these transformative investments now to avert the worst of the climate crisis, create millions of good jobs, and tackle racial injustice. That means passing Build Back Better before or alongside the smaller infrastructure bill.
