Today, the EPA hosted a virtual public hearing on a proposed rule that would regrant California its Clean Air Act waiver, reversing an unprecedented and illegal move by the previous administration that impacted communities across the country.
The Trump administrationâs revocation of Californiaâs waiver affected Washington DC and 13 other states that had adopted California vehicle emission standards, which are stronger than the national standards set forth by the federal government. The California clean car standards protect the health and environment of more than 118 million people, upwards of 40 percent of the US population. Read the full press release.
