Annual March Appeal Letter
Dear Sierra Club Supporter,
We’re looking at a once-in-a-generation opportunity for Arkansas’s environment.
There are two things happening simultaneously, and the need for action – from all Sierra Club members and supporters – could not be more urgent.
- Beating back historic overreach in Little Rock. With billions of dollars on the line, we need to advocate for projects that protect ecosystems, lower electricity costs for marginalized communities, and benefit everyday Arkansans who want to lead a more sustainable lifestyle.
- The climate crisis necessitates that we we electrify everything, everywhere, as soon as possible. Whether we’re talking about our homes, our cars, or our cities, the climate isn’t waiting for us to make more responsible energy choices. We will continue to push for electrification across Arkansas in order to reduce our dependence on dirty energy sources.
The Sierra Club Arkansas Chapter is people-powered. We rely on members and supporters like you to do this work. Please help us take immediate action on all of these fronts by donating $45, $60 or even $75 today. Local action is tremendously important given the current political climate, and 100 percent of your dollars stay here in Arkansas for local campaigns.
We’re certain to face a lot of pushback this year. Our vision for the future runs in the face of fossil fuel companies, executive industries, and their political cronies who put profits over people. We expect them to try and limit clean energy expansion. We know they will run ads saying that clean policies and good economics don’t mix. You can count on them trying to pass legislation that strips the 2019 Solar Access Act.
Fortunately, Sierra Club’s grassroots changemakers are notoriously effective – particularly here in Arkansas. The combination of their relationships with decision-makers and the expertise embedded in our organization has allowed us to win countless fights over the decades and protect the things that make Arkansas special.
That’s what makes us different: People are the beating heart of the Sierra Club. People like you.
Thank you for meeting this moment with us. Thank you for seeing a brighter future for Arkansas. Thank you for investing in our volunteer-driven work.
Sincerely,
Uta Meyer
Executive Committee Chair, Arkansas Chapter
P.S. 100 percent of you gift stays in Arkansas to mobilize hundreds of volunteers who will invest thousands of hours of service for our local environment. We have a historical opportunity to meet the moment, protect wildlands, stabilize our climate, and ensuring clean air and water for future generations.
