Las Vegas ICO outings are made possible by passionate and dedicated volunteers. There are a variety of ways volunteers can serve:

Certified leaders and assistant leaders work directly with youth and agency staff. They plan, organize, and conduct the outings. To become an ICO leaders, you must meet these requirements:

Be 18 years of age or older

Pass a criminal and DMV background check

Complete Outdoor Leadership Training and CARP (Child Abuse Recognition and Prevention) Training

Have current First Aid/CPR Certification

Be a Sierra Club member
-
Demonstrate an understanding of how to work with youth

Other volunteers work behind the scenes by helping with:

Fundraising

Publicity
-
Social Media
-
Technology
-
Community outreach
-
Coordination tasks, i.e. membership, equipment, safety & first aid, educational interpretation

Volunteers stay updated with Las Vegas ICO events by attending monthly meetings held on the second Wednesday of each month at REI Boca Park at 6:00 pm. New member orientations are frequently held at 5:00 pm preceding the regular monthly meeting.
