For the 9th consecutive year, the Big Bear Group promotes health and fitness by issuing a “patch” in recognition of those individuals hiking all five peaks of Big Bear. In order to receive the award, you must accompany a Sierra Club Hiking Leader on a scheduled day-hike to each of the five peaks of Big Bear. At the end of the year, you will be invited to a “Patch Party” to receive your award.
In 2017, the Five Peaks of Big Bear are:
- Gold Mountain (8.0 miles R/T, with 1,640 elevation gain)
- Grey's Peak (8.0 miles R/T, with 1,400' elevation gain)
- Bertha Peak (7.5 miles R/T, with 1,400' elevation gain)
- Delamar Mountain (5.5 miles R/T, with 1,150' elevation gain)
- Sugarloaf Mountain (10.0 miles R/T, with 2,500' elevation gain)
Experienced and trained Hike Leaders will provide the coordination and guidance to lead all interested hikers.
