WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Today, the D.C. Circuit Court put a temporary 60 day suspension on any decision on litigation over the Clean Power Plan, asking for additional briefings on the question of whether the Court should remand the case to the EPA or hold onto it.
The Sierra Club is one of several groups litigating on behalf of the Clean Power Plan’s life-saving protections.

SB 393--a bill which would have allowed non evidence-based information to be taught in the K-12 science classroom and would have blocked school boards from intervening to stop science miseducation-- was pulled from the House floor agenda and will not advance in 2017.

Washington, DC -- Today, Donald Trump signed an executive order directing the Department of the Interior to review the 2017-2022 Outer Continental Oil and Gas leasing program. According to Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke, the process will take two years. Trump will also order a review of marine monuments and existing offshore drilling regulations including the blowout preventer rule, put into place after the Deepwater Horizon disaster to prevent similar tragedies from occurring.

TALLAHASSEE, FLA—A bill under consideration in the state Legislature would let Florida Power and Light and other utilities make customers pay for exploratory gas fracking in other states and also make customers give the utilities a guaranteed profit for that exploration.
A Senate panel on Tuesday approved SB 1238, which would undo a 2016 Supreme Court ruling that said companies are overstepping their authority in passing along these costs to ratepayers.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Today, North Dakota Republican Kevin Cramer and eight of his Republican colleagues in the House sent a letter to Trump calling for the U.S.’s commitment to the Paris Agreement be weakened, including a rejection of the current U.S. Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC), putting forth a new pledge that supports “a future for fossil fuels,” reneging on U.S. commitments to the Green Climate Fund, and promoting the fossil fuel sector.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Two days before thousands and thousands of people are expected to march for climate action in Washington, DC and across the country, the U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao and EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt will meet with the board members of the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers -- a trade group representing General Motors, Toyota, Volkswagen, Ford, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, and others --to discuss dismantling lifesaving fuel and emissions saving protections.
