Washington, DC -- Today, the Sierra Club, Lancaster Against Pipelines, Lebanon Pipeline Awareness, Allegheny Defense Project, Clean Air Council, Concerned Citizens of Lebanon County, and Heartwood filed a petition for review with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia challenging the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s (FERC) approval of the Atlantic Sunrise pipeline. The pipeline would clear cut its way through ten Pennsylvania counties, impacting hundreds of acres of forested land and crossing dozens of wetlands and water bodies.

OAKLAND, Calif. - 25 U.S. cities have now committed to transition entirely to clean and renewable energy, following city council votes on Tuesday establishing 100 percent renewable energy goals in Madison, Wisconsin and Abita Springs, Louisiana. Madison and Abita Springs represent the first Wisconsin and Louisiana cities to commit to transition to 100 percent renewable energy.
ABITA SPRINGS, La. – The Abita Springs Town Council today approved a resolution establishing a community-wide goal of transitioning to 100 percent clean and renewable energy by 2030. Abita Springs represents the first city or town in Louisiana to commit to 100 percent renewable energy and the 24th city across the United States to make such a commitment.

Young and Senator Murkowski, the Senate today passed a Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution to overturn the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Alaska National Wildlife Refuges Rule. Voiding the rule undermines the management of public lands in Alaska, ceding control of wildlife management on national public lands to a narrow set of extreme hunting interests.
DAYTON, OHIO - Today marked the 250th U.S. coal plant that has retired or committed to retire since the Sierra Club’s Beyond Coal Campaign began in 2010, driving coal use down to its lowest level in history. The retirement of Ohio’s Killen and Stuart plants by June 2018 comes after months of conversations between Dayton Power & Light and stakeholders. DPL and other co-owners decided to announce the retirement because the plants are not economically viable.
