Oakland, Calif. - Today, U.S. District Judge Vince Chhabria ruled in favor of coal terminal developer Phil Tagami in his lawsuit challenging the City of Oakland’s ban on coal handling and storage. After a three-day trial, the judge found that the City of Oakland had not yet compiled sufficient evidence to support its ban against coal handling and storage in Oakland.

Oakland, Calif. --- Today, Judge Vince Chhabria invalidated Oakland’s ordinance that bans the storage and handling of dirty coal at the Oakland Army Base.

Washington, DC -- Today, the Sierra Club and other environmental and consumer advocacy groups filed a petition for review with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia against Scott Pruitt’s Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) decision that the light-duty vehicle standards for model years 2022 to 2025 are no longer appropriate and should be revised.

Today, according to a letter from EPA Inspector General Arthur Elkins, Scott Pruitt had requested round the clock security before he was sworn in as EPA Administrator. His 24/7 security detail began on his first day in office. The request did not go through Office of the Inspector General (OIG) but instead the EPA Office of Criminal Enforcement, Forensics, and Training.
