arlier this week the U.S. Forest Service announced it would be proposing changes to rules that govern how the agency handles oil and gas leasing by the Bureau of Land Management in National Forests. Also announced were changes to rules governing hardrock mineral locations. Unsurprisingly, given the Trump administration’s dirty-fuels first agenda, these rule changes are designed to “reduce the burden on industry” and speed leasing on public lands.

The vote advances a bipartisan spending bill -- free of dirty and dangerous riders -- that prioritizes investments in clean water programs, environmental cleanup, and renewable energy development.

Today, the Omaha Public Power District announced a new strategic directive for the utility that will guide their environmental stewardship for the coming decade. The policy, which also addresses the mix of energy types the utility will use, will now be publicly presented to the full OPPD board.

All told, the cities own more than 115,000 vehicles, with an estimated value of $10 billion according to the report.

Thursday, September 13th, the Utah Sierra Club and the Utah Climate Action Network are hosting a public forum titled, "Utah's Sustainable Communities in Action.” The event is affiliated with the Global Climate Action Summit, a worldwide convening of cities, states, businesses, and citizens committed to addressing the risks of climate change. Salt Lake City is one of the state's four local governments pledged to achieve 100 percent renewable energy and to make substantial reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.
