WASHINGTON, DC - On Thursday, House Democrats successfully pushed forward a package of appropriations bills for FY 2020 that increases funding for important public lands and environmental programs. It also includes major environmental victories, especially a one-year moratorium on new oil and gas leasing in the sacred Chaco Canyon. A series of successful amendments will also prevent the administration from using funds to drill in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans and off the Gulf Coast of Florida, build roads through the Tongass National Forest in Alaska, and engage in a variety of other environmentally destructive practices.

READING, PA -- Today, the Reading City Council unanimously voted to adopt a resolution establishing a goal of powering the entire community with 100 percent clean, renewable energy by 2050. 

Reading is the 19th community in Pennsylvania to commit to 100 percent clean, renewable energy. It is also the 130th city to adopt this goal nationally.

WASHINGTON, DC -Voters who say that Democratic candidates’ climate plans are “very important” in their choice of who to vote for are currently calling Joe Biden their #1 pick to be the Democratic nominee for President, according to the first wave of resultsfrom the Sierra Club’s 2020 Climate Voter Tracking Poll, conducted by Morning Consult. Biden is currently receiving 37% of the support among climate voters, with Bernie Sanders coming in at #2 with 19% and Elizabeth Warren at 15%.

MISSOULA, Mont.— The Interagency Grizzly Bear Committee on Tuesday will consider implementing additional measures to reduce conflicts between grizzly bears and people in the northern Rockies, as requested by conservation groups and others. 

The number of grizzly bear deaths has spiked to unprecedented levels in recent years. In 2018, at least 120 bears died in the Yellowstone and Northern Continental Divide regions. Most were preventable mortalities from human-related causes.
