Sierra Club supports Andrea Salinas in her campaign to win election to represent Oregionians in District 6 of the US House of Representatives. In her time as Oregon’s State Representative for House District 38, Andrea has fought to protect the environment. She fought for stronger legislation against forestry practices that negatively impact watersheds. She co-sponsored SB 1044, which establishes Zero-Emission vehicle use goals. In the 2021 legislative session she supported HB 2021, which requires retail electricity providers to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from electricity it sells to Oregonians incrementally, eventually requiring emissions to be 100% below baseline emission by 2040. She supported HB 2475, “Energy Affordability” which requires Oregon’s Public Utility Board to consider differential energy burden and other inequities of affordability in rates.
Andrea has led on issues most critical to working families such as affordable health care, lowering prescription drug costs, paid family leave, a higher minimum wage and yes, climate change. Andrea Salina’s childhood experiences have given her insight into the ways our systems do not work for everyone.
Andrea has been a leader on environmental issues and she believes environmental justice is critical to ensuring everyone can thrive. For information on how you can support Andrea Salina’s campaign, visit her website at www.andreasalinasfororegon.com.
