2024 GREEN CRUISE

Saturday, August 10th, 2024

Two Bicycle Rides

8am 41-mile ride to Belle Isle

9am eight-city 22-mile ride to Birmingham

Where to meet:

The new start / stop points for both rides are Ferndale Project (brewery), 567 Livernois, Ferndale, MI 48220

 

Tickets:

Pre-paid tickets are $20 (no fee) for both rides, available here https://www.bikereg.com/66385

Day of event tickets are $25 (no fee) payable by credit card or cash.

 

Before-event celebration:

7:30 am coffee & donuts for sale at Ferndale Project, the starting point for the rides. 

 

The Sierra Club waiver: part of online registration or filled out day-of-event.

 

Rain-or-shine

The rides are rain-or-shine; there is no rain date.

 

Pace for 22-mile 9am ride is about 12 mph

 

Pace 41-mile route:

The 8am 41-mile ride has two groups: 17+ mph & 12-16 mph.

·       Please do not join the 17+ mph group if you are not a highly accomplished bicyclist.

·       If you have doubts about riding with the 17+ group, please consult the ride leader BEFORE the ride starts. 

 

A new version of the 8am 41-mile Belle Isle route on Strava will be posted soon. 

Have you signed up online for the incorrect ride? Don't worry, simply join the intended ride.

 

The Green Cruise will:

·       Recognize the 2024 Green Cruiser of the Year

·       Raise funds for the Blue Heron Headwaters Conservancy, a non-profit safeguarding the headwaters of the Flint, Clinton, Shiawassee, and Huron Rivers since 1972 https://www.blueheronheadwaters.org/  

·       Provide free pre-ride repairs from Sullivan’s Continental Bike Shop

·       Provide competent ride leadership and a no-drop ride

 

Free Parking: 

There is no metered parking around Project Ferndale.

Parking is also available at the First United Methodist Church of Ferndale, 22331 Woodward Ave (at Leroy) Ferndale, MI 48220, one mile from Project Ferndale.
