Patapsco Valley State Park includes more than 16,000 acres bordering 32 miles of the Patapsco River between Howard and Baltimore Counties.
This map and others, including trail maps, are available for download from the PVSP website.
The Park is known for its 170 miles of trails, suitable for hikers, horses, and mountain bikes, and also offers fishing, boating, camping and birding.
The Patapsco Heritage Greenway, Inc. is the managing entiry for the Patapsco Valley Heritage Area, which encompasses about a third of the Park and its environs, from Daniels to Elkridge.
"Preserve Patapsco Valley State Park" is the Sierra Club's support group for the Park.
The support group serves on the Advisory Committee to the Patapsco Heritage Greenway and acts as a stakeholder in public discussions of Park trails and potential projects.
In October 2014, the Maryland Park Service began the process of examining the trails in the Park and soliciting opinions from frequent trail users through meetings with stakeholders, including the Sierra Club. The planning process resulted in the new trail plan which was presented for public review in April 2015.
In 2017 - 2018, public input was sought for a proposed Patapsco Regional Greenway, a bike path that would extend from Sykesville to the Inner Harbor of Baltimore. The final plan, and the Sierra Club position on the plan, can be found on our page, Proposed Patapsco Regional Greenway.
In 2018, the Sierra Club voted to support permanent protection pf Rockburn Branch Park, which adjoins the Patapsco Valley State Park.
