Introducing New Field Organizer Zoe Layton

Headshot of New Field Organizer Zoe Layton

Please join us in welcoming Zoe Layton, our new Field Organizer for the Sierra Club Maryland Chapter!

As the Chapter Field Organizer, Zoe works with members across the state to build grassroots power and win the change we need for a sustainable future. Prior to joining the team, she worked as a community, electoral, and union organizer. She led issue-based student organizing at Indiana University, ranging from healthcare access to fossil fuel divestment, and worked on the successful campaign to stop Medicaid work requirements in Indiana. She was also a field organizer for the Bernie 2020 campaign, and worked to win a union for public sector workers with SEIU in Virginia. Zoe graduated from Indiana University with a B.A. in Movements and Community Action, and a minor in French.
In her spare time, Zoe enjoys hiking the many beautiful trails in the DMV area, especially sections of the Appalachian Trail, baking vegan treats, reading, and spending time with her cat and dog (Chick’n and Waffles).
