The times they are a'changin'. The pandemic has forced so many changes in our personal and professional lives. For the Sierra Club Maryland Chapter, the time has come to close our dear old office.
With the lease expiring and Sierra Club’s policy to not return to offices until at least July, and further pushbacks possible, we decided it was time to move important things from the office into storage and turn in the keys.
This decision was not made lightly. We will have an office again, but we don't yet know when. There will be mixed feelings as we make the transition -- so many good times happened there, so many friendships were formed, so many Lobby Nights prepared for, campaigns conceived and won in those rooms.
To mark the closing of 22 years in our College Park office, we're hosting an Office Appreciation Party. It will be on Saturday, April 17 at 7:00 pm, and you are warmly invited!
We will be coming together to celebrate all of the great times we had in the office, reminisce, and celebrate the various eras of volunteers, staff, interns, wins, and milestones.
Send a few of your favorite action pictures from the office to Gary <gary.young@mdsierra.org>. Please also send happy or funny stories or come and share them yourself at the virtual event. The deadline for submitting pictures and stories is April 10th.
Your participation is what will make the event special. Hope to see you there!
