Plans are being finalized for the removal of the Bloede Dam on the Patapsco River. The demolition of the dam will necessitate closing some of the trails in Patapsco Valley State Park and removing others altogether. The entire process, from clearing the area around the dam to removing the dam itself to revegetating the affected riverbanks, will take several years.
The result will be a safer waterway for recreation and a healthy ecosystem that once again allows fish to swim upstream to spawn.
