Sierra Club Weekend May 17-19 at Camp Ondessonk in Southern Illinois.
Enjoy the wonders of the Shawnee National Forest with friends and family. Sierra Club outings leaders will guide you on hikes to nearby Fern Cliff State Park, Bell Smith Natural Area, Garden of the Gods, Jackson Falls, Panther’s Den, and Burden Falls. Bring your bikes or borrow Sierra Club bikes to follow the scenic rails to trails Tunnel Hill Trail. Canoes will be available to explore the Cache River swamp.
Friday evening through Sunday noon you may choose lodging at Camp Ondessonk from tent camping ($5 per person per night), to rustic 3-sided cabins ($10 per person), to enclosed cabins with electricity ($12 per person), to hostel style rooms at St. Noel Center ($100 per room for 4 people, may fit more at $25 per person). Water, toilets, and showers are available as well as outdoor cooking rings. You will plan and prepare your own meals. Friday and Saturday evening activities will be planned. The camp has a lake for fishing and trails to explore on the property.
For those avid outdoor enthusiasts there will also be hiking and biking and canoeing on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, May 15-17.
Camp Ondessonk is 2 hours and 20 minutes (about 150 miles) from St. Louis.

A 25% non-refundable fee for the lodging type of your choice is required to make a reservation. Please email me if you would like to participate, what type of lodging you would like and what activities you would like to do. You may also email me with questions.
