Dynegy closed its Wood River Coal Fired Power Plant in June of 2016. Coal ash ponds remain on site where coal ash sits near flood waters and the Mississippi River. There will be an Illinois EPA Public Hearing on Dynegy's permit to discharge water from the ash ponds into into Wood River Creek which flows into the Mississippi on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. at the River Bender Community Center:at 200 West 3rd Street Alton, Illinois 62002.
