It's time to start planning to attend our Annual Summer Picnic! This year the picnic will be on Saturday, August 6th at McCully Heritage Project in Kampsville, IL. Our friends at McCully will start the day with a guided Wildflower and Plant Walk at 10am. Meet at the pavilion at 12:30pm for a potluck dinner. We will canoe the Illinois River after dinner, in canoes provided by our friends at The Great Rivers Land Trust.
For the campers in the group, we have have reserved the pond area for tent camping that evening. Modern shower and bathhouse are on site! For the explorers in our group, there are miles of hiking trails, shallow creeks for walking, and a wetland with a boardwalk. For the fishermen, there are two fishing ponds stocked with crappie, bass, and bluegill. And for the young families there is a play area for children.
Make it a family day or weekend! More details will follow in the upcoming Palisades Views and on our Facebook page. In the meantime, check out the McCully Heritage Project online. For questions or to RSVP for canoeing or camping, contact Amitie via email or at 618-946-1098.
