Water Sentinels work with dedicated volunteers and staff at the group, chapter, and national levels.

Subcommittees address specific issues, including water quantity, water quality, and water equity.

We take action on threats to our water laws, collaborate with chapters on western water issues, assist students and the general public in water testing and monitoring projects, and advocate for safer, more affordable water for all communities, especially the most vulnerable.

Water Sentinels Mission Statement

• To protect and fully implement the Clean Water Act
• To advocate for access to clean and affordable drinking water
• To advocate for responsible ecological management of our surface and groundwaters
• To advocate for legislation that fully protects our waters and holds polluters accountable
• To connect people with their waterways by conducting local water quality testing and monitoring (our legacy “Water Sentinels” program)
• To expose and oppose activities that damage the integrity of our Nation’s waters
• To inform and educate the public and influence decision-makers
• To engage in grassroots activism for sound local and national water policies
