**UPDATE: Due to overwhelming opposition, FDEP has postponed its state park planning meetings originally scheduled for August 27. Stay tuned for more details!**
Under the direction of Governor DeSantis, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) has announced the ‘Great Outdoors Initiative’, an appalling new proposal to build golf courses, luxury hotel-style lodging, pickleball courts, and other developments in nine of Florida’s state parks.
There are plenty of hotels and golf courses in Florida without having to turn our state parks into resorts. Join us as we fight to keep our parks wild, and shut down this terrible proposal once and for all!
