To celebrate Arizona Public Lands Day, our chapter joined Chispa Arizona and The Wilderness Society -- our partners at the Respect Great Bend of Gila Coalition -- to enjoy a group picnic and short hike.

We gathered and picnicked at South Mountain Park and Preserve with 37 local supporters -- to discuss what public lands mean to each of us -- and our current efforts to protect Arizona lands. After our short hike we engaged in a game of Loteria (Mexican Bingo-like game) -- with a twist of public lands replacing traditional characters in the game.
Folks learned how to take action to protect the cultural and biodiversity rich lands of the Great Bend -- by asking President Biden to designate Great Bend as a National Monument.
Thank you to all who joined -- and our partners for celebrating and taking action to preserve our Sonoran Desert.
