Dear Supporter,
We’ve officially entered the dog days of summer. The signs of climate change are all around, with wildfires burning across the west and smoke reaching nearly every corner of the country. Now more than ever, we are reminded of the critical importance of our work. Read on to find out how you can plug in at this crucial time.

Regional Haze comment period open
Last week, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released their draft decision to partially disapprove Wyoming’s plan to deal with “Regional Haze," part of a Clean Air Act program designed to protect visibility in national parks and wilderness areas, including Grand Teton and Yellowstone. Under guidance from the EPA, Wyoming had a chance to create a plan to curb haze emissions and protect our skies. Instead, the state submitted a flawed, “do nothing” plan that incorrectly concluded that no new reductions in pollution were warranted for any of the state’s industrial sources.
Last month, Sierra Club volunteers held events in Jackson and Grand Teton National Park to raise awareness of this issue ahead of the EPA's decision (check out our blog post here). Now that the decision has been released, we’re asking SCWY supporters to submit a comment to the EPA by September 3rd, supporting the move and asking them to require meaningful emissions reductions. The time is now to advocate for clean air in our parks and wilderness.
Use the button below to submit your comment, which is due September 3rd.

National Old Growth Amendment
In 2022, President Biden issued an executive order to protect mature and old-
growth trees on federal lands across the country. Now, the U.S. Forest Service is
considering an amendment that could protect old-growth across the country. Although many Wyoming forests have been subject to logging and development, there is still plenty of Wyoming old growth and mature forest to protect. Help us create healthier forests and demand stronger protections for forests by submitting a comment today!
