Wisconsin's County Forest Plans: Now Open for Comments

Every 15 years, 29 counties in Wisconsin have to file a Forest Plan with the state. These plans inform development, management, and resource prioritization for the county forests that fall under the County Forest Law. You are able to submit comments on these plans.

These plans impact forest health and public benefits from the land including recreation opportunities, wildlife and watershed protection and stabilization of stream flow.

It is important to be a part of this forest stewardship process. We should support forestry practices that promote forest sustainability and multiple use. Your input can help inform forest protection in your county for the next 15 years - that’s important!

Each county has a slightly different public comment process and timeline, but every county has had or will have a public comment opportunity.

We have created a toolkit to make it as easy as possible for you to submit comments on your county's forest plan. If you sign up to submit comments, you will receive a copy of this toolkit and an email reminder to submit your comments!
