April 16th is Get on Board Day, a national awareness and advocacy day that is all about generating awareness of and increasing support for public transportation among riders and non-riders, decision-makers and stakeholders.
Let us know you're participating in Get On Board Day! We'll send you a reminder and a social media toolkit.
While we can’t show our support for transit in person due to the spread of COVID-19, we are staying active remotely by sending virtual thank you notes to drivers, making yard signs in support of prioritizing transit and making masks to help protect our transit drivers. Join us and engage your family and friends in thanking our transit drivers for doing their part in making our cities and towns safer, greener, and more accessible to everyone. Share your creations with the hashtag #GetOnBoard and tag @SierraClubWI on Facebook and Twitter.
You can #GetOnBoard and show your thanks to our transit drivers by:
- Making masks to donate to transit drivers.
- Sending a letter or email to your transit system or your transit drivers thanking them for continuing to work!
- Posting a story on social media about a transit worker and how they’ve made a positive difference for you with #GetOnBoard.
- If you live on or near a transit line - chalking at a bus stop or putting a sign up in your yard or in your window saying thank you!
Across the state, transit workers have served their communities during this unprecedented emergency. They have risked their lives to make sure that people can continue to get to their jobs, the grocery store, pharmacy or hospital. We are urging everyone to “Get On Board” on April 16th and say “Thank you” in a visible but physically distant and safe way.
Share this with your friends to get them involved, stay tuned for transportation updates and look out for our weekly #TransitTuesday posts on Facebook.
