We hope you are all taking care of yourselves, families, and neighbors. This is a weird, uncertain, and scary time; everyone is feeling the impacts (whether it's financial, safety, physical health or mental health) differently. For many of us, the Sierra Club and activism is a source of friendship, camaraderie, and a sense of making a difference. For those feeling a loss those things, we have launched a new #ActAtHome program.
#ActAtHome is a new virtual way to keep up-to-date with some of our programs, to get a sense of community, and to break up the day at home.
Daily Actions: We will be posting a daily action you can take while social distancing on our social media accounts every day at 10 am. Follow us (@SierraClubWI) on Facebook, Twitter and/or Instagram to view these each day. These range from action-oriented things like submitting comments on the Forest Action Plan, to preparedness tasks like applying for an absentee ballot, to things to take care of oneself, like doing a mediation or going on a nature walk.
Monday, Wednesday and Friday Virtual Chats: 3 days a week at 3 pm, we're hosting 'virtual chats' to offer updates about our programs, fun activities (including those you can do with young ones at home), and other, interesting information or activities. These 15 minute breaks are great to change up your afternoon. You can join our chats live via Google Hangout video call or via phone.
- Join our video call via Google Hangouts Meet: meet.google.com/orj-qvhp-zwk (Note: Hangouts is compatible with Chrome, Explorer, Safari and Firefox. If you are having technical difficulties, please try joining by phone and/or email Cassie at cassandra.steiner@sierraclub.org)
- Join by phone. Call +1 408-831-1266 and then when asked for the PIN, dial: 723 565 678#
- If you can't join us live for the chats, you can watch recordings on our Facebook and YouTube channels.
'Pop Up' Virtual Events: Keep an eye out for other virtual events from us. We have a book club, movie night, volunteer fair and more in the works! We will continue to update our calendar on our website and all of our social media accounts to promote these virtual events.
- Join us for a Virtual Volunteer Night on Wednesday, April 8th, at 6:30 pm. We'll work on graphic design projects, starting with a walkthrough of how to use our free, online, graphic design program, and then break into virtual groups to work on some projects! If you've ever wondered how to design gorgeous graphics for social media, and other materials, this is a great place to start! Plus you'll be able to connect with other volunteers. Learn more and RSVP here.
We hope to see you soon. Stay safe & well!
