The Milwaukee County Transit System is hosting an open house for the next step of the proposed East-West Bus-Rapid-Transit (BRT) system! It’s exciting to see such an important project move forward. The next step is finalizing the environmental assessment (that’s where we are!) before requesting funding from the federal government. Here are the details of the meeting:
Thursday, September 13, 2018 5–8 p.m.
Bethesda Church
2810 W. Highland Blvd.
Milwaukee, WI
More details available here
The meeting will be an open house to learn more about the environmental assessment for the project and to weigh in. Please submit a comment in support of the project!
Sample talking points:
- We need to be investing in projects like the BRT project in order to ensure access to everyone, keep Milwaukee attractive to visitors and millennials, and move quickly to projects that keep our air clean. The proposed BRT does just that.
- By connecting to the streetcar and the other buses, the BRT will increase the effectiveness and ease of using Milwaukee's transportation system.
- The BRT project will make neighborhoods and streets safer, reduce crashes and air pollution, and will be an efficient use of our tax dollar, unlike the recent proposal to expand the highway.
