Be an advocate for JobLines in Upcoming MCTS Meetings!

I love transitMilwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) is re-examining transit through a project called MCTS NEXT. Their goal is to increase the efficiency and accessibility of transit in Milwaukee County, and you have an opportunity to make your voice heard in the process!

You may have heard that JobLines, MCTS routes 6 and 61, are set to run out of funding at the end of this year. This places the future of the lines and their 1,000 daily riders in jeopardy - most riders use the lines to get to workplaces in the Milwaukee suburbs, and losing this mode of transportation would force many to quit their jobs.

The Community Meetings of the MCTS NEXT initiative are an important opportunity to advocate for JobLines, so please consider attending a meeting and making your voice heard! Upcoming meeting dates are listed below.

July 10

Brown Deer Public Library

4PM – 6PM

July 16th

Wauwatosa Public Library

4PM – 6PM

If you are unable to attend a meeting but would still like to give feedback on Milwaukee transit, MCTS is open to hearing your input via this form.

Points to consider if you would like to advocate for JobLines:

  • JobLines connects 1,000 daily riders from Milwaukee to good jobs in the suburbs

  • It would be difficult or impossible for many of these riders to get to their jobs without these two routes

  • There are no alternatives to these routes

  • Ridership quantity is not the only measure of route importance - these lines are crucial to the riders which use them (eg allowing them to have otherwise unobtainable employment)

Please join us in advocating for JobLines, jobs, and transportation equity - together, our voices make a difference!
