Despite what many of us expected for 2017, we wound up having a really fantastic year! Read on for some of the highlights.
Some of our Brightest Moments!
- I-94 Victory: we FINALLY stopped the highway expansion that would: prioritize highways over local road funding and transit that would have helped ensure access for everyone, not just those that can drive.

- Conservation Congress attendees supported protecting our clean water!
- Transportation Budget Campaign that we worked with a huge coalition and made a lot of progress. This campaign utilized a number of unique and creative ideas like the photo campaign pictured below.
- We Energies announced it would close the Pleasant Prairie Coal Plant and build solar instead!
- Wood County Passes resolution against eminent domain for private gain for oil pipelines
- The Nebraska Public Utilities Commission stood up for Nebraskans over Big Oil!
Wisconsinites traveled to Nebraska for the Give Keystone the Boot Rally - Sierra Club launched a Nearby Nature Campaign in Milwaukee!
- Sierra Club, local activists, and other groups created the Clean Power Coalition-Southeast Wisconsin to call on We Energies to address the series coal pollution in the Oak Creek area
- Clean energy kept winning through 2017! Following the momentum, cities across Wisconsin committed to clean energy!

- People Over Pipelines: Protecting Our Homes and Water: great summit with people fighting the Line 66 Pipeline and Line 3 across Wisconsin!
- Thousands attend the Madison Climate March

- Waukesha County Transportation Coalition received a National Sierra Club award for all their great work!
Coalition Member Barbara Pfarr with Executive Director Michael Brune and Chair Loren Blackford - Partnering with dozens of partners to raise awareness about the flawed mining bill and Back 40 Mine, including the Mining Tour and more!
- Wisconsinites Traveled to Minnesota for the Line 3 Public Hearing!
- People on the Pipeline: events across Wisconsin to celebrate the places threatened by the pipeline
