Act Now to Save Mature Forests in Snohomish County |

You too can help protect the few remaining acres of carbon dense mature forests that have regrown in a natural state after being logged before the days of clear cutting with chain saws and replanting as tree plantations. The Sno-Isle Sierra Club, the League of Women Voters of Snohomish County, the Center for Responsible Forestry and other organizations are asking the Snohomish County Council to protect those forests in the county. Add your voice to theirs. |

Toss it? No way! Take it to the Repair Cafe. Bring your vacuums, lamps, bikes, jewelry, anything you might want to make usable again. Volunteer fixers will diagnose the issue and do their best to make repairs. They will also show you their process and help you learn how you can do it on your own. |

Global Climate Change Course

This course explains how the Earth System works, including the global energy balance. The focus proceeds to global climate change: what happened, where things are now, and estimates about where things are headed.
The second half of the course will concentrate on action: reducing our own greenhouse gas emissions, preparing for environmental impacts, and influencing governments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to prepare for climate change challenges.
Dr. Richard Gammon and Dr. Nick Maxwell will teach this Creative Retirement Institute course which has no tests and no grades. |

The Washington State Sierra Club Wildlife Committee is hosting WDFW Gray Wolf specialist, Ben Maletzke, to present the 2022 wolf report. The presentation provides an opportunity to learn more about gray wolves and how they are recovering and dispersing in Washington. |

Enjoy a stroll along the marsh walkway while talking about the history of the North Marsh buffer and the invasive plants that grow there. Also learn about the vegetation restoration effort by the Edmonds Stewards and about animal life supported there. Rally to Save Legacy Forests
More than 200 forest protection advocates showed up in Bellingham last month to give a message to the Board of Natural Resources. The message was, "Commissioner Franz and BNR, please become the climate champions we need you to be and enact a mature forest conservation policy NOW!"
The crowd demanded that our forests be managed for climate change and biodiversity, not just timber profits. |

Marsh Booth A Popular Attraction at Edmonds Market |
Drawn by the attractive displays and activities, the Edmonds Marsh booth at the Edmonds Market had people lined up to get information, keeping Marsh Advocates volunteers busy responding to questions. The salmon props and children's games were a big draw, and the aerial visuals of the marsh area helped explain the concept of restoration as a functioning estuary. |

League of Women Voters Snohomish County is again participating in National Voter Registration Day and partnering with Evergreen Goodwill as well as Common Power. The partnership provides technology and venues from Goodwill, and training, materials, and volunteer management from Common Power. The LWV promotes the events and recruits volunteers, which are most needed in South Everett and Marysville. |
