September Zoom Meeting:
Trivia Contest and Influencing Political Campaigns
Thurs, Sept.16 from 6 to 7 pm

Although Climate Change is NOT trivial, we'll have fun testing your knowledge with a Thursday Trivia contest. Prizes include Sierra Club 2022 Wilderness Calendars, decorated T-shirts and other good stuff.

Then we'll show you how to influence candidates in the fall elections.

Join friends and other environmentally concerned people to share information and ideas and participate in this month's Action issues. We hope to see you!

Take Action
Concerned About Voting Rights?

Dams Are Still Stopping Salmon

Volunteer work writing letters to the editor and contacting  legislators has been helping, but we need to keep pushing for a free flowing lower Snake River that allows access for salmon. Contact Governor Inslee, Senator Murray, and Representatives Larsen and DelBene; emphasize the need for a speedy resolution to a plan for breaching the four lower Snake River dams.

Good News
Saving Toads and Affecting Codes

Hooray for the Whidbey Environmental Action Network! Their win for Western Toads in court has proven to have impact beyond Island County. Their strategy of comparing local rare and endangered species codes to other county's is being touted as an example for others. Their work was used as an example by a land use attorney presentation to the Northwest Region Planners Association.
Volunteer Opportunity
Interested in Saving Trees from Invasives?

Left alone, ivy vines, blackberry bushes and other invasive species of non-native plants will take over an area and kill other plants and trees. Teams of volunteers work regularly to fight back against this invasion.

You can join the effort by contacting team sponsors such as the Edmonds Stewards, who work in local parks every Saturday morning. Details

Forest Park work parties are sponsored by Green Everett and Forterra. If you want to be part of that stewardship effort, check out the Details or call 425-238-0065 .

Wherever it is, your favorite park probably has a stewardship program. Snohomish County Healthy Forests Project hosts training and work parties regularly. Details
